Here’s recent addition to Expedia.com’s service that enhances the customer experience.

View your personal trip guide. Here’s information we think you’ll find helpful for your upcoming Calgary trip. Get maps, directions, weather forecast and find hotspots, attractions, and more. Don’t just visit Calgary, experience it!

The link pulled up a nicely formatted summary of my flights and useful information like the weather that helped me prepare for the trip (I packed the liner for my topcoat & a pair of gloves). This nice, it reduced stress and was practical.

It also included “Things to do in Calgary” that piqued my interest in using some of my spare time to explore. The key from an experiential perspective is that it stimulated desire, emotional engagement and motivate me to enhance the experience. In my case I took a business associate to lunch in the up and coming Kensington area. It was fun to be able to expose a native to a new restaurant in an area of the city he didn’t frequent.

Kudos Expedia.com. You don’t just make travel arrangements; you enhance the traveler’s experience.

The practical features are nice but the emotionally engaging aspects have a lasting impact.
